East Cobb Quilters’ Guild Presents
Georgia Celebrates Quilts®
June 6 – 8, 2024

The East Cobb Quilters’ Guild is proud to present Georgia Celebrates Quilts®, our 19th Biennial Quilt Show and Market. It is Georgia’s largest continuing juried and judged Quilt Show with over 300 quilts by artists from all over Georgia. Beautiful handmade ribbons and over $4,000 in cash prizes will be awarded by nationally certified judges.  From artful wall quilts to traditional bed coverings, this show has something for everyone.

Come see the quilts, shop with the vendors, and participate in the raffles.   Your interest demonstrates the powerful effect of the quilt-making arts and their ability to strengthen friendships and contribute to our community as a whole.

The purpose of Georgia Celebrates Quilts® is to promote the appreciation of quilt making, to encourage excellence in quilt making, and to present the best in traditional and contemporary quilted works. The quilts in the show were entered by their makers, then selected for display by a jury, and judged for visual impact and technical skill by nationally-certified judges. The quilts on display come from all over Georgia and represent a wide range of styles, sizes, techniques and inspiration, and were made by quilters of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. Every visitor will find quilts that speak to them.

Raffle Quilt

We are excited to present “Kaleidoscope” the 2024 raffle quilt made by the members of the East Cobb Quilters’ Guild. Thank you for your interest in buying tickets to win this great quilt! “Kaleidoscope” measures 89″ x 94″.

Proceeds from the raffle support the educational mission of the Guild, providing workshops and lectures by nationally and internationally known quilt artists. If you’re not already a member, why not check out our programs, join online and be part of the fun!

Our 2024 Winner has been drawn.   Congratulations to Mary Ellen Brown!!!

Kaleidoscope” is a modern triangle tessellation quilt. It features 100% cotton fabrics, all solid colors in neutrals and a triadic gradient color scheme.

Over 3,000 pieces form the 700+ blocks. About 100 guild members machine pieced and foundation pieced these unique, individual, triangle-shaped blocks.

A small committee of guild members laid out the improvisational design. The blocks were designed by Devon Pfeif and BenHollingsworth. Instructions and patterns by Denise Russell (piecedbrain.com).

Tracy Fritchman and Ruth Chow made the extra blocks that were needed. Tracy assembled the quilt top and added the facing and hanging sleeve. It was custom quilted by Denise Cornett (Southern Quilts, Cumming, GA).

Shopping and More Shopping!

Vendor Market

Come shop!  Vendors from near and far will be on-site to browse and shop a variety of sewing related merchandise. You’ll find booths with sewing machines, patterns, fabric, notions and other essential quilting supplies. Some are our local quilt shops and others are vendors that make their merchandise available only at shows.

Block Party

The Block Party is a great way for Georgia students in grades K-12 to have fun using their creativity, sense of color, and basic math skills to learn about quilting and make a 16″ quilt block.  Blocks can be based on existing patterns, or an original design.

The Block Party introduces Georgia students to an art form they may not be familiar with, and provides a setting for their work to be displayed at Georgia Celebrates Quilts® biennial quilt show,  2024, at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta, GA.

Students can make blocks on their own, or in an organized setting such as a sewing class, a homeschool program, as part of a Scout Troop or 4-H Club, with a neighborhood quilter or relative, etc.

The Quilt Store

The 2024 Quilt Show will feature a fully stocked Quilt Store for your shopping pleasure with all items made by ECQG members.  The store will have quilts of all sizes available for you to use on your beds or hang on the walls of your home.  There will be small quilted items such as handbags, tote bags, small luggage bags and placemats/table runners.  You can also purchase fabric art items like vases, bowls, and pillows.

Postcards

These tiny unique works of fiber art are very  popular with Quilt Show attendees.   Our fiber artists will have a nice selection of these cards to choose from.  They can be mailed or displayed. Make sure you stop by and pick out several.
